Zick formula

Zick formula

Means the method developed by L.P. Zick
for determining stresses in large horizontal cylinder pressure vessels on two saddle
supports, published in Pressure Vessels and Piping Design Analysis, Volume 2,
Components of Structural Dynamics, © ASME 1972.

(2) Subject to subsection (3) and except as otherwise provided by these regulations,
pressure vessels are to be designed, constructed, installed and fitted with
protective devices in accordance with clause 7 of Part 1 of the CSA B51 code.

(3) A pressure vessel exceeding 37 730 litres in capacity that is installed in the
horizontal position on two saddle supports must be analysed using the Zick formula
to verify the adequacy of the saddle support design.
